Gnawty is a beaver-like enemy appearing in the Donkey Kong series. Their name is a pun on "gnaw" and "naughty".
History[]
Donkey Kong Country/Land[]
Gnawties first appear in Donkey Kong Country as regular and common enemies in the game. They simply walk back and forth and gnaw on Donkey and Diddy when the two get too close to it. They also can be defeated by any attack method possible.
They also have millstone versions known as "Millstone Gnawties" which ride on millstones and chase after the primates until reaching an abyss or a wall.
These enemies reappear in Donkey Kong Land acting the same as in the semi-sequel.
Donkey Kong 64[]
Gnawties reappear in Donkey Kong 64 as light blue or gold. These enemies are found commonly in the Jungle Japes area while they uncommonly appear in Crystal Caves. They are, once again, weak enemies that can be defeated by any attack method possible.
These mischievous beavers also appear in the "Beaver Brawl" challenge in K. Rool's Arena inside of Jungle Japes. There is also a minigame where Rambi had to defeat as many Gnawties within the time limit.

- In the Game Boy Advance remake for Donkey Kong Country, Gnawties have changed from green to blue.
- There is a beaver in Click Clock Wood called Gnawty as well in Banjo-Kazooie. He resembles Really Gnawty in many ways and it is unknown if he is a species of Gnawty from the Donkey Kong series.
