History

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest

These enemies first appear in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest as rarely found enemies in the game. They attack by spinning themselves around, trying to whip Diddy and Dixie with its tails. The monkeys must avoid this enemy until it gets tired and dizzy and then can be defeated via attacking in any way. It gets up after a short while.

• Despite Cat-O-9-Tails' name, it only has seven tails instead of nine.
• Cat-O-9-Tails is one of the enemies to not reappear in Donkey Kong Land 2, likely due to the Game Boy's limitations.
• Its name is based on the movie "cat o'nine tails". It is also based off the saying "cats have nine lives".
